1979 Alfa Romeo Alfa Sud 1.5Ti

Here we have for sale something that is rare in the UK. An earlier chrome bumper model Alfa Sud classic which retains all it's original bodywork in fantastic condition and has never been or needed any welding. A low mileage and original rust free RHD Alfa.

The reason is of course is it has spent all it's previous life in the hot dry inland climate of Gauteng Province in South Africa. The 4 door Ti model was only available in the South African market which during this period was second only to Italy for new Alfa sales. Main dealer serviced at the supplying dealer for the first twelve years of it's life with it's first owner. The second owner acquired it in 1991 and for the 20 years he had it he kept a record of every fuel fill up he did with the mileage listed up until 2011 when it was sold.

It was purchased by an Alfa collector/enthusiast from whom we acquired the car. He did very little mileage over his ownership but kept it well maintained. Total documented mileage now stands at 125k km which is just 85k miles. 

Panel gaps are all super nice and original spot welds all intact. Due to sun fade on the original paint, the car has been repainted once quite a few years ago to a very high standard of finish and still remains unmarked. Mechanically the 1.5 litre boxer engine fires up quickly and is eager to rev giving really brisk performance for the day.

Original service booklet and handbook are present and the original supplying dealer sticker is still on the back screen

There are a couple of cracks on the dashboard typical of hot climate cars and a couple of small tears in the seat upholstery but that is really all to be said in terms of imperfections.

Alfas were manufactured in South Africa for many years initially at the Rosslyn plant and from the late 1970's until 1985 at the Brits plant in Pretoria. It is generally accepted that Alfas produced during this period in South Africa were of the highest build quality seen. In 1980 Car magazine voted the Alfa Sud as car of the decade.
